Audacious Living

02/19/11

Hey everyone!

Last week was such an awesome week worshipping, seeing some peeps baptized, and kicking off our newest series titled “Audacious Living”

We looked at Moses, and how God had called him to do some Audacious things for God. We see Moses overcome obstacles, to see the will of God carried out despite his setbacks.

Please join us this week for Part 2, as we hang out in Joshua 10.

See ya there

LOOK HOW FAR YOU’VE COME
By: Kyla Tollefson Courtesy of: http://www.unlockmagazine.com

Why is it that we are so uncomfortable with change? We’re anxious about taking a big step and reaching out into the unknown; the uncomfortable zone. It’s as if we are not totally happy, but at ease enough to settle in and allow life to happen around us. There is some part of the unknown that seems mysterious, but it’s not adequate enough for us to actually venture into.

We know deep inside that we would be better off if we made some changes to our life and tried new things, but we’d rather not. We are so comfy in our bubble world of mistakes and letdowns. Comfort has overtaken the satisfaction of pushing forward and fighting the urge to settle. That’s the place where bad decisions are all too common.

Surrendering it over to God sounds nice, but is too difficult because that means losing all control. Fear has paralyzed us. We can’t move forward. But, in all of this we fail to see that the reality and mediocrity of our present circumstances is in itself paralyzing.

Each day that passes, the fear burns deeper within us. What would happen if I just let go? It’s a crossroad that every person stands at during some point in life.

Just surrender. There is freedom in surrendering. It doesn’t mean perfection afterwards, but it does mean that God has the reigns and gives us His strength.

We are the ones who put limitations on ourselves, but in Him all things are possible. If we surrender, He has the ability to set free what has held us captive.

We will come out victorious, having fought the good fight, and at the end of it all we

will see that each step was worth it.

Look how far you’ve come.

Being ready to worship

12/19/10

You may have come to one of the C4Awakening services recently, and thought to yourself “Did I come on the wrong night?”.. “Is this a youth service for High School students?”.
Next you’re probably thinking, “Ok, how can I duck out of here before anybody greets me!”, and looking for the nearest exit to avoid anyone assuming that a) you’re in High School or b) you’re a super creepy young adult.

Well, Im here to let you know, that no, C4Awakening is not a High School worship service. However, we have extended the invite to the C4Ignite High School ministry to join us for worship on Sunday nights.

But here’s whats interesting, you may have been confused when you walked in, because every single week, the dedicated crowd of High Schoolers sit RIGHT at the front. They’re the first ones in there, they’re sitting patiently waiting for the service to start, and they’re ready to go. I think we can learn something from this.

When we walk in as the countdown ends, there they are. Grades 9-12, ready to encounter God through worship. They come early, they sing, they lift their hands, and they are prepared to worship!

I feel rather inspired by that. I think that attitude, and level of preparation needs to be something we as the young adult community adapt at C4Awakening. Now, be prepared, it may mean a few MAJOR life changes. You may need to set your watches to normal time rather than the “fashionably late for church” setting it may be on. This would also require a few conversations to be cut a little short.

But honestly, why have we come to church in the first place? If we’ve earnestly come to encounter, and worship a LIVING God, then why don’t we give him the respect He deserves? Is He not worth showing up on time for? Is He not worth spending a few mins in quiet preparation for? Is He not worth our VERY BEST?

I think He is… and so Im letting this be a challenge to not only myself, but my peers with whom I walk with daily at C4A.

Let the hearts and passion of the High Schoolers be infectious !
